CUCKOO MARAN CHICK GROWING

Updated: May 16, 2022

Watch a CUCKOO MARAN CHICK GROWING - from incubator, hatch recovery to day zero through to day 20 and again when she is a 9 month old Pullet.

This female chick had difficulty hatching and although not ideal, after 24 hours, I had to assist with the hatch.

She was the only chick to come out this incubator batch and usually my Australorp hen goes broody around this time and cares for the new chicks, but due to the stress from a fox visit in my yard, which has now been rectified, understandably she decided to take the season off and not go broody.

So with the help of an electric brooder hen, I become mother hen and made sure she was cared for and well socialized, so she would be accepted and fit in with the rest of the flock.

You can watch this Cuckoo Maran chick grow and socialize from day zero to 20.

See the beautiful dark brown color of her first egg when she started laying at 6 Months and see what she looks like at 9 Months old and how she fits in with the other birds.

I was so thrilled this chick was a girl and I incubated another 12 eggs, a few weeks later and got 2 more female Cuckoo Maran chicks, who now all hang out together with the Australorp amongst the Muscovy ducks.
