A Maggot Bucket is a great way to breed Maggots, so that you can have free food for your Ducks and in my case Muscovies and Chickens. It's extra protein for good egg laying, your Muscovy Ducks love eating the maggots and it can cost you nothing to make.
A Maggot bucket is a bucket with a lid; it has drilled holes in the lid and around the sides of the bucket, as well as on the bottom.
You place meat scraps or road kill (no bird meat) inside the bucket with the lid securely on and leave it on a flat surface like a shallow container or concrete that you don’t mind pressure washing occasionally. The flies are attracted to the meat, go inside the bucket and lay their eggs/ larvae and in a few days you can call your birds over to the bucket and shake the maggots out for them to enjoy and in no time they will head over if they see you near the bucket.
This how to make a Maggot bucket video is to encourage new homesteaders and poultry lovers to make a maggot breeding bucket or many and to support beginners to use a drill safely and to make this themselves with limited skills, which will result in new skills and confidence to take on bigger projects around the homestead.
